Colin Carvalho Burgess has spent more than two decades creating entertainment experiences around sound, story, talent and fandom.His career began in audio branding at BBC Radio 1, where he became Head of Station Sound and helped shape the identity of BBC Radio 1Xtra at launch. That foundation in sound, audience behaviour and popular culture has carried through a career spanning television, podcasts, immersive audio and original IP.He went on to develop some of the UK’s earliest companion podcast and fan formats around major television franchises, including Lost, Heroes, Prison Break and Game of Thrones — with Thronecast later transferring from online fan show to Sky Atlantic television series.Since then, Colin has produced and directed entertainment formats for Sky, Channel 5 and HBO-linked properties, working with presenters, actors, comedians and global studio IP across shows including The Ultimate Movies, Westworld Official Fan Show, DC Superheroes Fancast and Dave Allen: In His Own Words.In audio fiction, he has directed and produced Audible Originals including The Nox, starring Lashana Lynch and nominated for Best Drama at the ARIAs, and Watch Dogs: Truth, Audible and Ubisoft’s first original interactive audio experience.Through Coex Studios, he develops original audio fiction and immersive storytelling IP, including the British Podcast Award-nominated sci-fi drama Coexistence.

Colin produces and develops premium podcast formats, companion content and original audio storytelling across entertainment and factual genres.He was an early innovator in television companion podcasts and fan engagement formats, developing original audio content around major global franchises for broadcasters including Sky and HBO.Recent work includes the true crime series Letters From A Killer for Podimo and Transistor Films, alongside the official Westworld companion podcast hosted by Lauren Laverne for Sky Atlantic and HBO.Alongside broadcast and platform commissions, he develops original podcast and audio fiction IP through Coex Studios, including award-nominated productions recognised by the British Podcast Awards and the ARIAs.

AUDIO BRANDING
Colin is an award-winning audio branding producer and former Head of Station Sound at BBC Radio 1, where he led creative audio production and on-air branding for one of the UK’s most influential national radio networks.He was also part of the launch team behind BBC Radio 1Xtra, helping define the station’s sonic identity for a new generation of audiences and emerging music culture.Alongside broadcast production, he has worked across audio branding, imaging and production music development with Emergency Production Music - an internationally recognised audio branding and music library company specialising in themes, imaging and sound design for television, radio and media platforms.
